The Faraglioni

Capri Island - Torre Saracena - The faraglioni

The Faraglioni of Capri are three impressive stacks situated in the sea just opposite the bay of Marina Piccola.
The Faraglioni are the product of centuries of coastal and atmospheric erosion of the predominantly limestone rock.
Each of the stacks has been given a name: Stella, that closest to the shore; the Faraglione di Mezzo, characterized by its central archway; and Scopolo, the furthest from the coast and the unique habitat of the Blue Lizard which, as its name suggests, has acquired a rare blue skin-tone, similar to that of the surrounding sea and sky.
